My forthcoming monograph, Empirical Spectacles: Performing Science in the Age of Eugenics [under contract with Columbia University Press], argues that eugenic scientists’ efforts to gain support for their ideology hinged on visuality and performance and, reciprocally, these performances aligned eugenicists with scientific credibility and biosocial progress.
